So here we are in the middle of the NBA playoffs. Make no mistake about it, I am a sports fan, but not a pro basketball fan. I have my reason, and i prefer college hoops. I believe they give it more heart. Anyway not to get too far off track. usually when you set up the playoffs the top seeded team always plays the lowest seeded team. That holds true for every round. If the number eight (8) team upsets the number one (1) team they would then play the next highest seed left. However, that does not seem to be the case in the NBA this year. The Memphis Grizzlies upset the San Antonio Spurs in the first round and The Los Angeles Lakers won their first round match-up. With the Grizzlies being number eight (8) and the Lakers being number two (2), it would only stand to reason that they would meet in the second round. The Lakers are playing the number three (3) seeded Mavericks, while the Grizzlies are playing the number four (4) team the Thunder. I have a theory. I believe the powers that be in the NBA would love to match the Lakers up with a lower seeded team in the conference finals. There by guaranteeing the Lakers a better chance of going back to the finals. If the Lakers do end up playing in the conference championship. It is possible they could play the Grizzlies. This could be a marquis match-up, due to the fact that, the Gasol brothers would be playing each other. Also, if the Lakers happen to make it to the finals and play against the Miami Heat the league would get their Lebron-Kobe match-up the have so desperately wanted. In other words the fix (to a degree) was on. Unfortunately for the powers that be, the Lakers lost game one of their series to the Mavericks. (insert evil laugh here).
