As I have stated before I have a book project on the back burner. It is a non-fiction book titled “The Thin Line”. The previous title was simply ‘Versus’ I changed it a few months ago. The topics I created for this books chapters are different. To this point they are: ‘Good VS Great, Perception VS Conception, Opinion VS Thought, Need VS Want, Gluttony VS Greed, Hope VS Optimism, Feeling VS Emotion, Common Sense VS Logic. Today while on my way home from work I was listening to the radio. ESPN to be exact. They were talking about the recent playoffs (big surprise there). They were making note of one Joe Flaco, the quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens. The guys were discussing how good he really is. The subject was brought up about how he has now beaten two of the more elite QB’s in the NFL today. Last week the Ravens defeated The Denver Broncos. The are quarterbacked by Peyton Manning. This week they came out in the second half and took it to the Patriots and Tom Brady. As I mentioned earlier, Manning and Brady are considered to be two of the best ever. When the men on the show stated that Flaco had defeated these two elitist back to back weeks. It was in my nature to question this idea. Lets face it they do not go head to head. Isn’t it really the defenses that did there job on these two quarterbacks. Shouldn’t they get most if not all of the credit for defeating these guys. Shouldn’t Flaco or any QB for that matter get the credit for defeating the different defenses.
On the other-side of this it does seem to me that the pitcher gets almost all the credit for the victory in baseball. Lets face it, if a team like the Giants (my favorite baseball team) win a game it’s the pitcher that collects all the credit for defeating the other team. Sure there is some reference to the hitters, but statistics show the win going to the pitcher.
Well I suspect I could ramble on here for a few pages. At least that is the hope. No use putting in a new chapter if you can’t give it a few pages. I guess my psychological ramblings have taken an athletic type turn. I will have to create a whole new section. Or…relate the other subjects to sports as well. We’ll see……….
